It’s been nearly 3 years since I last posted on this blog at all. After having a lot happen in my life, I feel the need to explain what has happened in the past couple years, and where I am at now.

Much has happened since I have last blogged back in October 2013. Since that time, I have met an AMAZING woman named Jordalynn, who is now my fiance. Woohoo! We will be getting married August 8th, 2016, in Springdale, UT.

I have also moved from Utah to Colorado, attended a college while out there, and worked at Xbox Live for a brief period. We then decided to move back to St. George, UT, to continue my studies back at Dixie State University. We were able to rent out our very first home!!! I adopted a dog, Mia, and we are a pretty happy family.

I now own 3 different websites. I was able to reacquire my 2nd website ever, which has never really held anything of value. Back when I owned it, I used to upload League of Legends comics, and get a ton of hits from avid gamers. However, when I went to Boot Camp for the Army in 2011, I didn’t have internet access and lost the domain. I have been waiting to pounce on it and finally got it again in 2014!

The 3rd website I have is actually not worked on, but may get attention in the near future. It’s a pretty plain site at the moment, but I hope to one day transform it into my Gaming Career website. The site will hold mainly my stream and some other stuff, haven’t really figured out what I’m going to do with it just yet. Will update that on a later basis.

I updated my Resume, both the page and documents, as well as my Calling Card that you get when you scan the QR code on the resume itself. I need to keep updating it as time goes on and not just once a year, like I used to.

I need to set up all my website email accounts to Windows 10 Mail. It may be a little difficult, but we shall see in the end. If anyone has a better alternative for an email client, let me know!

Lets see… I used to be a pretty active League of Legends player. I ended season 3, 4, and 5 in Gold, and am currently sitting at Platinum 4 in the season 6. My profile can be found here. Not doing exactly well, but I’m pretty hopeful I can maintain Platinum rank during S6, or maybe even Diamond if I ever get back into it.

Lately, however, I have been trying to finish what I never started: my Steam Collection. The amount of games keeps growing bigger and bigger and I am finally tackling it a little by little! Huzzah!

Alright, signing off for now!

2013 Government Shutdown? GG Veterans!

Hey all! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, been really busy with college, job, and finally having a decent social life!

So as you all might know, we are currently in the midst of The 2013 Government Shutdown. It’s day 3 of the shutdown, and I’m hoping things will blow over soon and a compromise is found, but until then let me give you some information on how its affecting me.

Since I have recently gotten out of the military (June 2013), I moved from Ft. Stewart, Ga, to St. George, UT, to attend Dixie State University for college with my G.I. Bill.

As covered in a previous blog entry, the G.I.Bill pays for my college tuiton in full, as well as a monthly living stipend (Housing stipend). They pay the college at the end of every semester, and they pay me the stipend on the 1st of every month.

However, with the government shutdown, it adds peril to veterans who need the money to survive while in college. If the government shut down lasts for more then 2 weeks, Veterans might not receive any funding for the month of November, having it rolled over until December.

Now, all in all that may sound inconvenient, and not that bad, but for me its different. I have no other funding besides my hotel job, which will cover the cost of my auto insurance and auto payment off per month.
Throw in Gas, Food, Utilities, Internet, Phone bill, having to save up money for next semesters housing contract (Has to be paid up front), and I’m in a little bit of a bind.

Lets hope that the government figures out what it needs to do, and lets hope it does so quickly!

My G.I. Bill was approved!

In last week’s blog post, I talked about my job and how it’s a wonderful place for a college student like me to work at. The job provides me study time while paying me. Who can pass that up!

Anyways, as mentioned in my last blog post, I said I got the job initially because my G.I. Bill wasn’t processed yet, meaning the government had not yet paid for my schooling or my housing.

Since I live over in Canyonlands Student Housing since August, I had to pay, out of my own pocket, for room and board. For a single room for a semester, its approximately $1995, paid all upfront. Yeah, it was a steep price for my lil wallet, but I was able to pay it and I am now Rent-free and worry-free until December.

About 4 days ago I received my long awaited letter from The Department of Veteran Affairs. I quickly opened the letter to read what the determined my status and eligibility would be.

Sure enough, I get 100% Education Benefits for 3 years!

With the G.I. Bill, since I have a Service-Connected Disability, I get 100% of my tuition paid for, as well as a monthly housing allowance and a Per-Semester Book Stipend.

I also get a VA monthly allowance FOR LIFE, but I haven’t set that up yet. I will expound more on that in the future.

Here’s a glimpse of my Student Housing per month I receive:

As you can see, after 2 months of saving, I can pay off, IN FULL, my next Semester of my apartment… and still have money left over from the other 2 months!

Add on top of that a decent paying “study time job”, and my car that gets 28 MPG, and I’m going to be saving tons of money this school year!

It’s true: I get paid to study at my job!

So as you all may know, this blog is revived as of September 2013, after a near-4 year hiatus. Now that I’m back in school, I thought it would be appropriate to bring it back, spruce it up a bit, and redo my resume (Work in progress!).

With that being said, I am trying to find ways to make a lil extra income. With my G.I. Bill still not in yet (V.A. reps say it’ll come in mid-October, but we all know that the government is highly unreliable on dates. I’ll write a separate post about THAT issue, too complex to go into it now.), I have had to get an extra job and look for side-jobs in my spare time.

The job I currently have is WONDERFUL. I work at a hotel here in St. George, close to both my apartment and the college. It may sound lame to you, but for a college student like me, it’s amazing in every aspect (well, except maybe for pay, but you will see why I still consider my job amazing).

First off, the pay is decent. Minimum wage is $7.25 here in Utah, and I am getting paid $7.50 an hour. So there’s nothing glorious in that aspect. I would love for the pay to be bumped up to $8.00 or even $8.50 with the upcoming changes in gas prices (Syria Conflict = Rising oil prices), but we will talk about that another day.

Since my only job is to take care of the front desk, 3 days a week, for 8-10 hours at a time, I only get like 1 hours’ worth of customer interaction per day.

The rest of the time? I sit in a quiet environment, listen to my own music, and do my homework… while getting paid! I get approximately 7 hours of study time for each 8 hour workday I am tasked with. How awesome is that! 😀

I don’t really know what else to put here, so for the people who were sent here from other college blogs, or from a search engine:

Try and get a job that will allow you to kill 2 birds with 1 stone!

So… First post here on this blog… but this isn’t my first post on this domain before!

Back in 2008-2009, when I was at Job Corps, I had a blog just like this. It contained my personal stories and life experiences while at Job Corps, where there was very little to do for people that weren’t troublemakers (like me!). The Blog back then was my source to talk to friends, back in the day when there was no Facebook, and Myspace was still the cool thing.

Welp, its back now! After my Crazy adventures East Coast, and then my Military Service, I’m now ready to reopen this blog!
